early fall is a reckoning. cool crisp air in the morning, not yet bitter sunshine in the afternoon, knitwear and lightly knotted scarves, energy and alarm clocks and schedules. museums. field trips. fresh notebooks and brand-new pens. the first few leaves dusting the grass in washington square park. i’m feeling stressed beyond belief right now but this week is a welcome respite from the work-work-work-work rush i’ve been in for the past couple of months.

i romanticize everything except the things that hurt me.
